Publisher Deep Silver has revealed the first official details for its upcoming horror title “Dead Island: Riptide.” Per the publisher, “Dead Island: Riptide” is a spin-off and not a sequel to the first “Dead Island” game.
"Dead Island: Riptide" takes players to the island of Palanai on the Banoi archipelago. The place is infested with Zombies and only a few remaining Survivors are fighting for their lives. The game is set to introduce new terrifying enemies, deadly weapons with enhanced proficiency, a new playable character, new vehicles, fresh levels and weather conditions , evolved multiplayer, and hub defense game mechanics.

Players will now be able to import their characters from the first “Dead Island” and the game, this time, will focus on weapons instead of melee, making this edition more action oriented than the original version.
The in-game characters that have been revealed thus far include Xian (an employee at the Royal Palm Resort), Sam B (a rap star of fading fame), Logan (a former American football star), Purna (a former officer of the Sydney Police department), and a still-to-be unveiled character who has been kept confidential till further notice.
“Dead Island Riptide picks up right where the original game left off, then promptly crashes the chopper full of survivors into a brand new island full of zombies thanks to a tropical storm. Just when you thought they were in the clear,” the game’s official FB page states.
